To File as a Candidate before Officially Qualifying

Two Forms:
  • Form DS/DE 9 - Appointment of Campaign Treasurer and Designation of Campaign Depository for Candidates:
    This form must be filed with the City Clerk, who is the qualifying officer for the City of Tamarac, before the acceptance of any contribution or the expenditure of any funds by the candidate, including expenses by the candidate from their personal funds. 
  • Form DS/DE 84 - Statement of Candidate:
    This form must be filed with the qualifying officer within 10 days of filing the Appointment of Campaign Treasurer and Designation of Campaign Depository form.
    To file this form, the candidate must be given access to read and understand the requirements of Chapter 106, Florida Statutes on Campaign Financing. (Please read before filing this form). 

To File During the Official Qualifying Period

Two Forms and the qualifying fee payment:
  • Form DS-DE 302NP - Candidate Oath Nonpartisan Office.
  • Form 6 (SB 774), Financial Disclosure:
    Public Disclosure of Financial Interest for the Previous Calendar Year. (Filed Electronically)

  • The qualifying fee must be paid by a check drawn on the candidate's campaign account:
    The State of Florida requires that candidates pay an election assessment fee equal to one (1) percent of the annual salary of the office being sought. In addition, the City of Tamarac requires all candidates to pay a filing fee during the qualifying period. Candidates must pay both fees using one check drafted from the candidate's campaign account. The check should be made in order of the 'City of Tamarac', and the campaign treasurer must sign the check.

Campaign Reporting Information:

Campaign reports are to be filed through the City's electronic filing system and are due no later than 11:59 p.m. on the day designated. Reports not filed by 11:59 p.m. on the day designated are considered to be late-filed and subject to penalties. Campaign reports must be filed even if there are no new contributions or expenditures. Penalties for late filing are paid from a candidate's personal account.

Except as provided, reports are to be filed quarterly on the 10th day following the end of each quarter. If the 10th day falls on a Saturday, Sunday, or legal holiday, the report is filed on the following day, which is not a Saturday, Sunday, or legal holiday.

Following the last day of qualifying for office, any unopposed candidate must file the Termination Report (TR) no later than 11:59 p.m., 90 days from the end of qualifying.  §106.07(1)(c), Fla. Stat.

The last day to accept campaign contributions is 11:59 p.m. on October 29, 2026.

A candidate who was elected or defeated in the election must file the Termination Report (TR) no later than 11:59 p.m., 90 days after the election. All candidates must bring their campaign accounts within the limits set forth in §106.141, Fla. Stat.

CALENDAR OF REPORTING DATES FOR 2025-2026

Except for the third calendar quarter immediately preceding a general election, reports shall be filed on the 10th day following the end of a calendar quarter. Quarterly reports must include all contributions received and expenditures made during the calendar quarter that have not otherwise been reported pursuant to §106.07, Fla. Stat.
