TAMARAC INTRODUCES ITS FIRST SET OF ELECTRIC VEHICLES, PAVING THE WAY TO A SUSTAINABLE FUTURE

Press Releases Posted on April 02, 2024

Tamarac has taken a significant step toward sustainability by acquiring its first set of electric vehicles. The acquisition of two Chevy Bolt electric vehicles is a significant milestone for Tamarac, as it marks the City's transition toward a greener and cleaner future. These vehicles will be added to the City's municipal fleet and governed by the City's Motor Vehicle Operation and Safety Policy.

"Tamarac is pleased to integrate electric vehicles into its municipal operations," said Tamarac's Mayor, Michelle J. Gomez. "This is a critical step toward supporting sustainable practices in our City and preserving the environment for future generations."

The transition to electric vehicles aligns with the federal, state and County, and the City's own priority to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

These electric vehicles contribute to a healthier environment, as they do not emit pollutants, and offer long-term economic benefits with savings on fuel. Their lower operating costs than traditional gasoline-powered vehicles will lead to substantial cost savings for the City over time, a promising outlook for our financial sustainability.

The City plans to continue converting its fleet with the use of electric vehicles in the future as part of its ongoing efforts toward sustainability.
