TAMARAC, Fla. (July 30, 2024) – The Florida League of Mayors Inc. (FLM), selected Mayor Michelle J. Gomez and the City of Tamarac as the recipients of the 2024 Mayors Municipal Innovation Awards (MMIA) in the Quality of Life Category for the City’s Shine Tamarac project. The City of Tamarac was one of three municipalities to receive this award.
The MMIA aims to highlight and share creative initiatives that improve municipal governance and benefit residents. Shine Tamarac is a City-wide beautification initiative that focuses on improving the quality of life for every Tamarac resident.
"It is an honor for the City of Tamarac to receive its second FLM Municipal Innovation Award! Last year, Tamarac was awarded the Inaugural Award in the Quality of Life category for creating our Tamarac Pet Pantry. This year, the City is receiving the Award for our Shine Tamarac project," said Gomez. "This project gives our residents, businesses and even visitors an easy and effective way to help maintain and improve the quality of life in Tamarac, which we highly value. This Award recognizes our wonderful community effort as we are One Tamarac. Thank you to everyone who has participated and will participate in our 'See, Click, Fix' platform to help Tamarac Shine together!"
The Award will be presented at the FLM Annual August Membership/Business meeting in conjunction with the Florida League of Cities' Annual Conference.
