New Security Step Coming Soon for Utility Billing Portal
The City of Tamarac will soon implement an additional security measure for the online Utility Billing portal used by customers to manage and pay water bills.
In the coming weeks, Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) will be added to the login process for the Utility Billing portal. MFA provides an additional layer of protection for customer accounts by requiring a one-time verification code in addition to a username and password.
When this feature is enabled, customers logging into the Utility Billing portal will receive a one-time verification code sent to the email address associated with their account. Entering this code will confirm the user’s identity and allow access to their account.
Why this change is being implemented:
• Adds an additional layer of protection for customer accounts
• Helps prevent unauthorized access if login credentials are compromised
• Aligns with modern cybersecurity best practices for online services
Customers who are currently logged in will not be affected immediately. The verification step will only appear the next time a customer logs in after MFA is enabled.
Additional information and updates about the implementation timeline will be shared on the City website.
The City of Tamarac remains committed to protecting customer information and ensuring the continued security of our online services.
