The City of Tamarac is proud to announce that we have been selected as a finalist in the 2026 IDC Smart Cities North America Awards in the category of Intelligent Community Engagement. This prestigious recognition honors innovative municipalities that leverage technology to strengthen civic participation, improve service delivery, and enhance economic development.
Tamarac was recognized for its AI-Powered Community Engagement Platform, a centralized digital experience that transforms how residents and visitors discover events, programs, and community activities. Launched in April 2025, the platform brings together events from City departments, parks and recreation, libraries, schools, and community partners into one unified, easy-to-navigate system embedded within Tamarac.gov.
Prior to implementation, event information was distributed across multiple calendars and platforms, creating duplication, scheduling conflicts, and information overload. Tamarac addressed this challenge by creating a single, intelligent source of truth that improves coordination internally while delivering a more personalized and accessible experience for the public.
Since deployment, the platform has delivered measurable results:
• Event page views increased by 45% in the first six months
• Scheduling conflicts across departments decreased by approximately 30%
• More than 60% of users engaged with recommended or featured events
• Staff time spent on manual coordination decreased by an estimated 25%
The platform supports economic development, arts and culture, tourism, and community vibrancy by making it easier for residents and visitors to discover and participate in activities across the City. Automated integration with Parks & Recreation systems and cross-platform distribution to Tamarac TV and digital displays ensures consistent, timely communication without added staff workload.
This recognition from IDC highlights Tamarac’s continued commitment to innovation, digital transformation, and delivering intelligent, resident-centered solutions that strengthen community connection and long-term livability.
We thank IDC for this honor and congratulate our Information Technology team, Communications team, and City departments whose collaboration made this achievement possible.
