The Certificate of Use ensures that commercial properties in the City of Tamarac are safe, properly maintained, and compatible with the City's zoning regulations. A Certificate Of use (COU) is required before any business can operate within a commercial space.
- ✅ A COU application must be submitted to the Community Development Department with all required documents and applicable fees ($100).
- ❌No business may operate within the City without first obtaining a COU and a Local Business Tax Receipt.
- ✅ A COU must be approved before applying for a Local Business Tax Receipt.
- ✅ The proposed business must comply with planning and zoning requirements as outlined in the Tamarac Land Development Code. If a use is not permitted at the proposed location, the application will be denied.
- ✅ Prior to issuance of a COU, all existing code violations and liens on the entire commercial property must be resolved.
