Hazardous Waste

The City of Tamarac, in participation with the cities of Coconut Creek, Coral Springs, Fort Lauderdale, Lauderdale-by-the-Sea, Lauderdale Lakes, and Pompano Beach, provides a series of drop-off events for household hazardous waste (HHW) and old electronics (E-Waste). Residents of Tamarac may dispose of HHW and E-Waste at drop-off events in each participating City. This program provides Tamarac residents with a responsible way to recycle or dispose of household hazardous waste (HHW) and old electronics (E-Waste).

Accepted items include: Printers, keyboards, televisions, computers, monitors, fax machines, modems, desktop copiers, scanners, automotive batteries, cell phones, pool chemicals, mercury thermometers, rechargeable batteries, fluorescent tubes, paint, motor oil, pesticides, fertilizers, and more.

Unacceptable items include: Biohazard or medical waste, explosives, tires, waste generated from businesses, alkaline batteries (AA, AAA, C, D, 9V), office furniture, stereos and speakers, musical instruments, DVD players or VCRs, appliances, microwave ovens, electronic hand tools, and general trash or debris.

Proof of residence is required at all events (drivers license or utility bill)
