[ARCHIVED] CITY OF TAMARAC ANNOUNCES THREE FREE HOLIDAY EVENTS FOR DECEMBER: FESTIVITIES BEGIN DEC. 5

Child smiling wearing holiday clothingTAMARAC, Fla. (Dec. 3, 2024) –The City of Tamarac invites the community to three free city-wide holiday celebrations this December. 

On Thursday, Dec. 5, residents and guests can enjoy a charming evening at Caporella Park, 5200 Prospect Road, for Holiday Lighting. Tamarac’s Mayor and City Commission will light the Christmas tree, menorah and kinara. Activities also include photo opportunities with Santa Claus and holiday-themed special characters. The celebration begins at 6:30 p.m. On-site event parking is limited. The City will provide free continuous shuttle service from Redeeming Word, 2800 Prospect Roadto Caporella Park starting at 6 p.m. Photos from the 2023 edition of the annual Holiday Lighting are available online.

Festivities continue on Friday, Dec.13. Families can enjoy a night of reindeer games at Tamarac Park, 7501 N. University Drive, for Winter Wonderland. Santa’s elves can embark on a $3 train ride, make a craft at the art station and play lawn games in the snow. Event festivities begin at 6 p.m. Photos from the 2023 edition of Winter Wonderland are available online

The annual Paws with Claus Holiday Paw-Ty is closing the city-wide holiday series on Saturday, Dec. 14. Four-legged pals are invited to a tail-wagging winter celebration at Gary B Jones Park for People and Pups, 8101 Southgate Blvd. The paw-some adventure begins at 10 a.m. with giveaways, raffles and pet-friendly vendors. Closing the event will be a Holiday Hound competition awarding the best-dressed pup. Photos from the 2023 edition of the Paws with Claus Holiday Paw-ty are available online. Broward County Animal Care will also be on-site for pet adoptions. All adoption fees will be waived for pet spaying, neutering, vaccinations, microchipping and Broward County pet license tags will be provided.

In observance of Christmas Eve on Tuesday, Dec. 24, and Christmas Day, Wednesday, Dec. 25, City of Tamarac offices will be closed.
